The main objectives in which the Group develops its activities are related to the obtaining of science and technology indicators in order to analyse the evolution and trends of Spanish scientific and technological research. The Group analyses the inter-relation among science and technology, as well as other topics of scientific relevance (mainly in the fields of environmental sciences, ecology, etc.); the understanding of the role of basic research, scientists mobility, scientific co-operation and related topics. The group is also devoted to the improvement of new tools for bibliometric and scientometric purposes (Geografic Information Systems for Science and Technology Indicators) as well as the designing of new approaches for the evaluation of scientific journals.
