Formed in 1998, the research activities are centred on three main lines:
- Physiological plant ecology
The analysis of physiological traits that determine the current plant distribution in semi-arid SE Spain. Particularly, water relations, gas exchange and nutrient dynamics.
- Species interactions
Positive (facilitation, mutualism) and negative (competition, interference) interactions among higher plant species in stressful environments.
- Community dynamics
Evolution of plant communities in response to disturbance and climatic fluctuations.
